Wholly Moon
Among many traditions the full moon signifies wholeness. When we look at it, it’s no surprise the ancients put such words to this experience. As the moon receives light it reflects back to us our own inherent fullness.
There’s a beautiful Sanskrit mantra, that I’ve written about before on these emails.
Om purnamadah purnamidam purnat purnamudacyate purnasya purnamadaya purnamevavavasisyate
That (you and me + all of reality) which comes from wholeness (the generating event of the Big Bang) is inherently whole. The wholeness that births is still whole, despite the many creations. It’s not that we’re all one and the same, but this reality is indivisible. Individuality and indivisibility.
The ancients and spiritual masters recognized that it’s not necessarily easy to consistently recognize our inherent wholeness. This is why, particularly in the yogic tradition, the wisdom of the masters also comes with an incredibly comprehensive set of practices, so we can attune ourselves to this living reality.
We practice to release tension and stress in our bodies, soften our hearts, and let our minds rest with trust in our truth.
Within practice is consistency. Whether it’s a physical yoga practice, pranayama, repeating mantras (Sanskrit or your native tongue), or simply attuning yourself to the ever presence of wholeness. In any of this consistency is a key to open the door.
As we remember we are more than enough consistently, we realize that we don’t have to strive as much, we can relax a little more, enjoy a little more, and grow a little more.
When we realize our natural inherent wholeness we don’t need anything from anyone. This is liberating for me, how does it land for you?
Although we don’t really NEED anything to realize our wholeness. I find on my own path that I have much more consistency and joy in my rememberence when I’m consistently dipping into the healing waters of retreats and trainings. This is why I feel in alignment sharing my offerings and retreats to you. Take a look at the Essential You 2025 retreat. I’ve been both a participant and a teacher at this offering and I have to say it’s incredible.
